Violinist Lea Tuuri has performed as a recitalist, soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster in the United States, Israel, India, Denmark, England, France, Cyprus, Austria, Italy, France and Finland. She has made recordings for Warner, MTV3 and YLE. Collaboration with contemporary composers such as Jyrki Linjama and Itzam with Zapata has resulted commissions and first performances of solo violin works. 

 

At the moment Ms. Tuuri is working on Doctoral studies at the Sibelius Academy, her focus being on "musical styles in the violin works in the Middle Europe from the first half of 20th century" and her thesis on Phantasy by Arnold Schönberg. 



Her schedule has included concerto soloist engagements with Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, Kuopio Philharmonic, Lauttasaari Philharmonic and West Helsinki Chamber Orchestra. She has worked as an assistant at the Finnish Radio Orchestra, Finnish National Opera Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Helsinki Philharmonic and Boston Philharmonic.  She was a concertmaster of Helsinki Junior Strings and of Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra.

 

Prior to having graduated with a M.Mus degree with honors from the Sibelius Academy in 2014, she earned  B.Mus degree at the New England Conservatory and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Bloominginton in 2008. Previous teachers include Kaija Saarikettu, Miriam Fried, Tuomas Haapanen, Mi-Kyung Lee, Lara Lev, Juha-Pekka Koivisto and Geza Szilvay. 

 

Ms. Tuuri performs frequently with Amaya Trio in Israel, Finland, Austria, UK, Cyprus, and India. Lea plays a violin by Stephan-Peter Greiner, made in 2000.
